A federal court ruled last week that the F.D.A. must finally decide whether the routine practice of feeding antibiotics to healthy farm animals poses a serious danger to human health. If the F.D.A. concludes that it does, they must ban the practice. (My best guess is that the F.D.A. will hold true to form and wind up caving to the meat industry, but if I'm wrong I'll apologize and join the celebration.)

According to new research, Americans' consumption of fruits and vegetables has remained flat since 2004. But U.S. soda sales have dropped to 1996 levels.
