GLOB Master ordains Millhopper lunch stop
By Mike Sanford, GLOB Editor
In the blink of an eye and with a wave of his tunic-sleeved arm, Robbie Pruitt has converted the Millhopper Square's Roly-Poly Sandwich shop into Father Phil's, where you can lunch on heavenly wraps, sandwiches, salads, soups, beer, and wine.
"My wife and I are happy about returning to North Florida after a long career in aviation," Robbie said and added, "This location came available, and it seemd like a perfect fit for our very own sandwich shop."
In could be considered a born-again whammy, a laying on of hands, or an act of God, er, uh, Phil, I mean Robbie, this lunch spot now possesses a shiny wood floor, a new coat of paint, and angelic faces ready to serve you a fast food lunch with spirit.
The religious-themed lunch worked on the GLOB Master, from THE DISCIPLES (roast beef, Black Forest ham, pork, chicken breast, bacon, chicken salad, and tuna salad) to the Garden of Eden salads.
Father Phil has ordained five sandwiches--The Pope, The Cardinal, The Bishop, and the Deacon. The menu also includes 9 gidly created sandwiches. Fir example how about a sliced chicken breast with lettuce, Roma tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, green pepper, alfalfa sprouts, mango chutney, and sesame dressing?
Phil's Virgin Mary lunch category includes five immaculately conceived vegan sandwiches with ingredients like cream cheese, dried cranberries, walnuts, pecans, carrots, spinach, lettuce, Roma tomatoes, avocado, alfalfa sprouts, and spicy honey mustard.
If you feel like playing God, you can always select the Creator -- you make you own salad, wrap, or salad. But we're talking about a lunch hour, NOT seven days of creationism.
Father Phil has six soups on hand daily, along with a holy trinity of baked cookies
There is a complete Father Phil's menu at the restaurant link below.
The sandwiches really sound yummy with The Apostles of mushrooms, jalapenos, sun-dried tomatoes, and cucumbers, but the Garden of Eden Salad #11, which contains spinach, lettuce, walnuts, crumbled blue cheese, avocado, sun dried tomatoes, mushrooms, dried cranberries, croutons, and balsamic vinaigrette spoke to my valley of hunger.
Salad #11 was an excellent choice. The bleu cheese, cranberries, and sun-dried tomato were a tasty revelation. The portion was large enough that, if I had been attending lunch with a fellow brother or sister, I could have shared the salad with them.
Alas, parishioners I will need to attend Father Phil's again very soon. The GLOB Master is planning to meet, and have The Pope for lunch.
The Pluses and Minuses of Father Phil's:
Father Phil's + indicators : Unique menu of different Apostles, er, uh, toppings.
Father Phil's - indicators: None noted, this sandwich shop is answering to a higher pay grade than the GLOB Master.
